Local schools fare well

In the New York Post's ranking of the top 50 high schools, which uses DOE data, the Bronx High School of Science came in at 12. The school received high praise for having 34 Advanced Placement classes and offering nine foreign languages. The school's history includes seven Nobel Prize winners who attended the school and the record for the most Intel Talent Search finalists.

The David A. Stein Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy, MS/HS 141, made the list at 37 and was singled out by The Post for having a teen theater, poetry cafe and future businessperson program, "which preps kids on resume writing and interview techniques."

The Marble Hill High School for International Studies came in at 45. With an average class size of 25, the small school has opportunities for foreign exchange, a Saturday program, peer tutoring and teachers who have worked over seas as Peace Corps volunteers. http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/item_I0CqtmJ05x1uKVXyFNl41K/1
