School's open on Thursday

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that public schools will reopen on Thursday at regular hours.

He also said that he expects snow removal to be largely completed by the morning rush hour.

Riverdale delays and closings

UPDATE:

Metro-North's Rail Link service has been suspended for the area, "due to accumulation of snow on the hills to the stations. Both these stations are at the bottom of steep hills and the buses have no traction."

A few Riverdale organizations have gotten in touch with The Press to let us know about schedule changes or closings.

As everyone knows by now, all schools in the area are closed.

The Riverdale Y will be open, starting at around 10 a.m. The gym and pool are open, but all programs and classes are canceled, including the senior center and early childhood programs. The Y also says that it may close early, weather dependent.

The Hebrew Institute of Riverdale's office is closed, though the building opened at 6:40 a.m. and plans to close at 6 p.m.

Metro-North is delayed, but looking out the door of the office, we can see buses still running.

More as we know it.
